چکیده

Abstract Multistable origami and its snapping behaviors between the folded states have attracted scientists’ engineers’ attention as building block for design of mechanical devices metamaterials. We propose a novel method designing origami-based multistable structures, by which we mean (1) to obtain prescribed overall motion (2) control stiffness provided elastic strain. solve this problem first representing desired with linkage structures quadrilateral holes, called frames, then filling frames modules, boundary modules. By introducing an intentional incompatibility motions behavior that follows motion. provide representation model evaluate optimization-based framework design. also validate our applied Sarrus through bar-and-hinge analysis experiments using physical prototypes.

Generalization of Rigid Foldable Quadrilateral Mesh Origami

In general, a quadrilateral mesh surface does not enable a continuous rigid motion because an overconstrained system, in which the number of constraints around degree-4 vertices (three for each vertex) exceeds the number of variables (the number of hinges), is constructed. However, it is known that the developable double corrugation surface, called Miura-ori, produces a rigid deployment mechani...

Rigid-Foldable Thick Origami

In this paper, a method is proposed for geometrically constructing thick panel structures that follow the kinetic behavior of rigid origami by using tapered or two-ply panels and hinges located at their edges. The proposed method can convert generalized pattern of rigid-foldable origami into thick panels structure with kinetic motion, which leads to novel designs of origami for various engineer...

Simulation of Rigid Origami

This paper presents a system for computer based interactive simulation of origami, based on rigid origami model. Our system shows the continuous process of folding a piece of paper into a folded shape by calculating the configuration from the crease pattern. The configuration of the model is represented by crease angles, and the trajectory is calculated by projecting angles motion to the constr...

Rigid origami vertices: conditions and forcing sets

We develop an intrinsic necessary and sufficient condition for single-vertex origami crease patterns to be able to fold rigidly. We classify such patterns in the case where the creases are pre-assigned to be mountains and valleys as well as in the unassigned case. We also illustrate the utility of this result by applying it to the new concept of minimal forcing sets for rigid origami models, wh...

Determine Distinct Shapes of Rigid Origami

Rigid origami is a class of origami whose entire surface remains rigid during folding except at crease lines. In this work, we explore the idea of determining distinct shapes that can be realized by a given crease pattern. Typically, crease pattern is designed with a single target shape in mind. However, as the advances in material science and robotics engineering enable the realization of self...
